St. Cyril : Donate or Buy

Donate or Buy

Your Contributions are part of your discipleship

When you donate to the parish, whether in the weekly offering, parish share program, capital campaign, or any of the other offering programs, you play a vital role in the life of St. Cyril’s.  The parish could not operate the social service programs, the religious education, perform weddings or funerals, or even keep the lights on in the church, without the support of all of our members.

But in addition to these very practical and earthly needs, your act of contributing is a form of stewardship that defines a true disciple of Christ:

"One who receives God's gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others, and returns them with increase to the Lord."

So giving generously is about both body and soul.

Convenient ways to give include new E-giving

Traditionally, parish members use the envelopes delivered by mail to your households monthly. If you don’t now receive envelopes in the mail, you are not officially in the parish membership.  Contact the Rectory (412-761-1552) to register.

Now we are offering on-line giving for those who like the convenience of using credit cards, debit cards or electronic transfer for weekly contributions or to any of the special collections.  On-line giving is secure and convenient and will easily handle your offerings while you are away from home. What the various funds cover

Whether you decide to put a check or cash in your envelopes and drop them in the basket at Mass or set up automatic contributions through on-line giving, you’ll be prompted by the envelope packet to consider programs to which to contribute.  Here’s what each of them means:

Weekly Offering—Goes to the normal operating expenses of the parish, including electric and water, routine maintenance, expenses for religious services, including sacramental wine and wafers, candles, and so on.

Parish Share—The assessment made of each parish by the Diocese to support ministries and programs throughout the diocese.  Click here to read more about supporting ministries.

Northside Catholic School Angel Fund—Once a month, for school expenses for families and students in need.  A $10 contribution is suggested.

St. Vincent de Paul—Supports the charitable works of this organization to aid the poor. Click here to view more about St. Vincent de Paul.

Capital Campaign—Periodically in the life of the parish, we need to make significant repairs or upgrades, just as you sometimes need to put on a new roof of your house or replace the furnace.  We are now in the midst of the first capital campaign since 2000.  The goal of $500,000 will give us the resources to replace the church boiler (we’re still nursing along the original boiler from 1954), to put protective coverings on our stained glass windows, clean the church walls of decades of dirt, make Axmacher Hall accessible to the elderly and those with disabilities, upgrade the technology of the parish facilities and communicate more widely via a robust Web site.
