St. Cyril : St. Cyril of Alexandria Pastoral Council

St. Cyril of Alexandria Pastoral Council

In 2000, the Pittsburgh Diocesan Synod called for each parish to have a Pastoral Council to advise the pastor on parish issues and to work with him on strategic planning for the growth and strengthening of the parish.  Since its formation, St Cyril’s Pastoral Council has been a sounding board for Father Larry Bruney and has played a role in many important Parish initiatives, including the writing of the mission statement, which forms the foundation of all Parish endeavors.  Click here for the mission statement.

To provide a lay voice to be considered in the decision-making of the pastor and to help conduct research in order to develop the long-range planning for the Parish.

Volunteer Time Commitment and Duties

Meetings are held on a monthly basis, with less formal exchanges of information taking place during the interim. In addition, the Diocese offers periodic training and refresher sessions for members.

Members are invited, by Father Bruney, to consider prayerful discernment of participation in this ministry.  At any one time, the number of Council members ranges from 6 to 10. The length of service is flexible and determined by the pastor.
