St. Cyril : St. Cyril of Alexandria Finance Council

St. Cyril of Alexandria Finance Council

In keeping with Diocesan guidelines, St. Cyril of Alexandria’s Finance Council plays an active role in assisting the pastor in the administration of the secular affairs of the parish including the development and oversight of church and school annual budgets, and management of the counters of the weekly offertory collection.

To approach the creation and management of annual operating budgets for the Parish in a fair and efficient way while implementing best financial practices.

Volunteer Time Commitment and Duties

The collaborative relationship between pastor and council is one of mutual support. On a monthly basis, Council advises and consults with the pastor concerning matters of fiduciary responsibility for the Parish.  Annually, the Council prepares a budget statement and presents it to the parish during Mass.  It also manages and schedules volunteer counters of the weekly offertory collection.  Each team of volunteers is scheduled to count the collection a few times each year.

Chairperson: Dick Freyvogel
Committee Members: Terry Callahan, Micki Cloonan, Hugh Mulvey and Rich Partridge.

Membership on the five-person council is by pastoral appointment.  A background in finance is not a prerequisite for serving. Parishioners are asked, by invitation only, to serve as counters.

Of Note

While the Finance Council works closely with the Pastoral Council on items of shared interest, there is no overlap in the responsibility of either council.
